Essay

This thesis is dedicated to the research of social deviance in daily life of USSR people in 1920s. It explores the extent of the historical studies on this topic, reveals the source base and the research methods. Key social, economic, political, legal and cultural factors that influenced the dynamics of social deviance during the studied historical period have been analyzed in this work. The thesis also explores criminal rates in USSR, the process of criminalization of public authorities and main types of crimes. It substantiates the statement that during the NEP period minor domestic crimes induced by unsatisfactory material needs were predominant. Furthermore, this work contains the study of alcoholism problem in USSR, explores state policy in the field of alcohol manufacturing and retailing and studies the phenomenon of home alcohol brewing. Finally, it defines the specifics of prostitution as a type of social deviance in daily life of people in the Republic.
