Vasylieva O. Improving hats’ styling and design

The thesis deals with the issue of improving styling and design of sewed millinery with a high level of compliance with anthropometric bearing surface of a human head. On the basis of anthropometric studies of heads of young and middleaged women made using photometry method there were distinguished different types of three-dimensional shapes of human heads’ bearing surface. Among those shapes there were outlined eight major shapes in accordance with a frequency of their occurrence. The data obtained are suggested to be used to design sewed millinery with improved indicators of anthropometric compliance. There was developed a designing method for a basic hat construction made of four gussets.
