Object - the process of adolescent education in the USA in the second half of the XX century; the aim - to analyze theoretical concepts and to generalize the experience of adolescent education in the USA schools for the use of American specialists' pedagogically valuable achievements in modern general educational institutions of Ukraine; methods - general scientific, scientific-historical, predictive; novelty - firstly, the comprehensive analysis of the theory and the practice of adolescent education in the USA schools of the second half of the XX century is carried out; the stages are scientifically grounded and the major trends of the development of the problems of adolescent education in the USA schools in the stated chronological framework are determined; American scientists' views on the various aspects of the problem of adolescent education in the USA schools are systematized; the experience of different schools in the USA regarding the content, the forms, the methods of adolescent education is generalized; the ideas and the experience on the organization of American adolescents' school education, pedagogically valuable for Ukrainian modern secondary school, are shown; the origins of the formation and the further development of the problem of adolescents' school education are specified; native and foreign scientists' approaches to the development of the problem of adolescents' school education got further development; results - the analysis of the problems of adolescent education in the USA schools enables teachers and heads of Ukrainian general educational institutions to use foreign school's progressive achievements on the determined problem with the aim of improving the quality of the educational process. The study's materials can be used during the development and teaching courses: "Pedagogy", "History of pedagogy", "Comparative pedagogy", the development of special courses, the study of the development of the USA historical-pedagogical thought, the preparation of textbooks, manuals, course papers and master papers, scientific and methodological recommendations, as well as with the aim of pedagogical workers' qualification improvement in the system of postgraduate education; field - education.
