Essay

Bilingual education, which is typical for multicultural democratic Canadian society, was analyzed on the basis of historical and pedagogical research as the phenomenon which is based on the integration of theories and concepts of pedagogy, psychology, sociology, history, linguistics and psycholinguistics. Different types of bilingualism were investigated. Economic, psychologic, educational, social and cultural factors were shown which caused popularization and spreading of bilingual education.
