Dissertation is devoted to the analysis of foreign scientific discourse of the phenomenon of ethnicity in the socio-philosophical paradigm.Theoretical and methodological basis of socio-philosophical paradigm of the scientific discourse on ethnic issues are substantiated. Three main topics of the discourse presenting such phenomena as ethnic diversification in contemporary world, ethnic identity and ethnic othering are defined. The possibilities of philosophical science in disclosing of the essence of ethnic diversification and its consequences for etho-national development of polyethnic countries are illustrated. The institualized completeness of terms and notions in the field of ethnicity and its functional aspects adapted to Ukrainian research traditions are defined and analyzed. The process of a conceptualization of notions "ethnicity", "ethnic identity", "ethnic othering" in socio-philosophical paradigm of Western scientific space are analyzed. The main moments in definition of the phenomenon "ethnicity" are underlined: interaction of its structural elements and markers, the role of factors which influence the transformation of ethnicity and the dynamics of its significance in the social development of the polyethnic society. The process of structuring of research field of the phenomenon of ethnicity in its structural/organizational and theoretical/methodological dimensions are presented and in this context the role of research institutions, publications, scientific actions into the study of different aspects of ethnicity are evaluated. Types and forms of manifestation of ethnic identity in the frame of socio-philosophical paradigm with accent upon its reconstruction and destruction are defined; the role of construct of ethnic "othering" in a interethnic communication and its dynamics in socio-cultural contexts of polyethnic countries are analyzed. The attention to perspectives of maintenance and development of ethnic identity as a core component of ethnicity is drawn and the impact of different factors upon the dynamics of "othering" under diverse social and cultural conditions is reproduced.
