Popruzhna A. Cossack Foremen's Funeral Culture in the Second Half of XVII - XVIII centuries.

For the first time in the thesis the author gives the complete investigation of Cossack foremen's funeral culture in the second half of XVII - XVIII centuries. The author adds the idea of stages and funeral culture manifestation of social elite representatives on the basis of the vast number of archive sources the considerable part of which is firstly implemented in the scientific use. The author considers the process of preparation for the end of life, the major parts of the funeral ceremony, the traditions of burial place arrangement and the ways of memory immortalizing. This gives the opportunity to consider the funeral culture of Cossack foremen of the second half of XVII - XVIII centuries as the social and cultural phenomenon, Ukrainian Cossack state.
