Essay

The thesis provides a complex analysis of the historical-cultural principles of the ethno-touristic activity in the Ivano-Frankivsk region (1991-2014). It points out the historical-cultural premises of the ethno touristic resources formation in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. There are described main branches of the development of ethno tourism on the territory of the region in the second half of the XIX - the end of the XX centuries. In the period of the Second Polish Republic the recreational-touristic resources showed the predominance of an ethnical component in the region tourism. The recreational-touristic branch acquired its mass character in the Soviet period. The tourism of the Soviet period lost its economical component; on one hand this benefited to the quantity increase of the touristic service, on the other hand it lessened the quality of these services and comfort level in the current touristic infrastructure, which was a direct result of a planned economy of the Soviet state.
