Essay

The thesis focuses on comprehensive analysis of Byzantium art of war in Taurica territory on the basis of evolutionary change in the IVth - the beginning of ХІІth century A. D. It was found that the history of Byzantine art of war on the territory of the Northern Black Sea, its impact on the administrative and political structure of Taurica cities; establishment and decline of military engineering complexes in Crimea; the question of federates-allies in the mountain and coastal Crimea is reflected in the testimony of medieval authors, epigraphic, numismatic and sphragistic sources. The main sources for the study of specific questions of military art remains Crimean archaeological sources. Historiography of martial art of Byzantium in Tauris is varied, but not systematic. In recent decades, these established myths began to be subjected to constructive criticism and now we can see that much of them were reviewed that undoubtedly opens up new horizons to modern researchers and has created a new pleiad of scientists .
