Essay

In the research was considered a branch of modern aesthetic theory - "environmental aesthetics", that was formed in the late twentieth century in the British-American philosophical school, its basic definitions and theoretical problems. It was offered the authentic Ukrainian term - "aesthetics of environment", that covers this area of research. The transformational processes of the concept "nature" were examined in scientific and philosophic context until conceptualization of "environment" and formation of "environmental aesthetics". The aesthetic dimension of the environment was analyzed through the theoretical developments of A. Berleant, E. Brady, A. Carlson, Y. Sepanmaa and R. Hepburn. The consideration of the environment as an aesthetic object caused a revision of traditional aesthetic categories (aesthetic experience, aesthetic appreciation, aesthetic value, etc.).
