Essay

In the present investigation, the axiological dimension of aesthetic experience is analyzed. This approach presents the specific positions of representatives of universalism (L. Blaustein, H. Elzenberg, R. Ingarden) and pluralism (M. Wallis, S. Ossowski, W. Tatarkiewicz) in Polish aesthetics of the first half of 20th century. It is also taken in account the origins and historical-phiosophical preconditions of forming the conceptions of Polish aestheticians. In the present paper author reveals features of the analyzed conceptions, paying attention to the methodological principles of philosophical trends: the phenomenological conceptions of Leopold Blaustein and Roman Ingarden are unified by attention to the ontological and existential background of aesthetical experience; the investigations of anti-formalist Henryk Elzenberg is characterized by emphasis on the substantive aspects of aesthetic experience; Wladyslaw Tatarkiewicz's conception presents the historical and philosophical analysis the problems of aesthetic experience; sociologist and aesthetician Stanislaw Ossowski pays attention to the socio-cultural preconditions of aesthetic experience; the hermeneutic approach in Mieczyslaw Wallis' conception is manifested through the attention to the problem of comprehension as background of aesthetic experience. The factor that unites the Polish aestheticians' concepts of aesthetic experience is the relationship between aesthetic experience and aesthetic value. Feature of understanding this relationship in works of universalists (L. Blaustein, H. Elzenberg, R. Ingarden) is idea of the aesthetic value depending on the quality characteristics of the aesthetic experience; concepts of aesthetic pluralism representatives (M. Wallis, W. Tatarkiewicz, and S. Ossowski) are characterized by claiming the variety of aesthetic effects that can be the subject of aesthetic experience is the basis for the large number of aesthetic values.
