Essay

The thesis deals with the study of the Ukrainian magazine "Native Land", that at the beginning of XX century was one of the first Ukrainian legal publications. The terms of development of the Ukrainian-language periodicals early XX century are analyzed. Research enlightens the "Native Land" establishing process, publishers' and editorial staff's activity, defines magazine's place and role in Ukrainian society of early twentieth century. Investigated the thematic palette of publications of the "Native Land", identified the actuality of their direction. Established that the editorial staff of the magazine considered important political, social and economic processes, events, reflecting the growth of the national-building interests in society and the development of national culture. In this work it is established the features of collaboration of "Native Land" with leading Ukrainian writers. Outlined the coverage of the important issues for the development of national education, publishing, theater and music on the pages of magazine "Native Land". Defined contribution journal in forming vocabulary of the Ukrainian language.
