Mykhalska O. Polycode Titles and Headings of Russian Language Websites in Linguo-Semiotic Dimension

The thesis extensively explores inhomogeneous titles and headings of Russian language websites from the point of view of semiotics. It gives a theoretical description of the key issues linked to the Internet discourse analysis and the linguistic status of Internet texts; discusses the polycode phenomenon as viewed by linguists in Ukraine and abroad; examines the features of the polycode Internet page titles and headings, introducing a new term for the website title - "internetpagionym". The study closely focuses on the connection between the visual representation and the grammatical meaning, which has been verified both by analyzing the materials of illustrated learner's dictionaries of the Russian language and Russian language website titles and headings. To establish the correlations between the iconic and the grammatical in inhomogeneous texts, the paper develops a system of ostensive means that includes ostensive markers and gestures. Studying internetpagionyms from the structural and functional aspect allows classifying them into two basic types (static and dynamic) with a broad system of subtypes as well as outlining their dominant functions fulfilled by website titles and headings.
