Methods: theoretical: analysis of philosophical, psychological, pedagogical, educational materials, dissertation research - to determine the state of research problem; synthesis, comparison, specification, systematization and generalization - to formulate conceptual and categorical apparatus, to ascertain the nature of professional competence of future fashion designer and separation of the components of its structure, formation criteria, determining the organizational and methodological principles of formation of professional competence of future designers specialized in the study subjects; Empirical: observation, interview, questionnaires, tests, self-assessment, analysis of visited classes - to explore the real state of formation of professional competence of future fashion designers; pedagogical experiment - for comprehensive determination of levels of professional competence of future fashion designers, in order to test the effectiveness grounded and developed methods of forming professional competence of future designers in the study of professional disciplines; statistical methods - quantitative and qualitative interpretation of empirical data.
