Essay

Dissertation is devoted to elucidation of the role and importance of hospitality in the formation of European cultural space. Amidst the conceptualization of hospitality as a complex system-structural phenomenon the main theoretical and methodological approaches of its comprehension are considered, a substantive analysis of concepts is carried out that at a particular stage of European civilization formation reflected the specific practices of hospitality. Cultural and historical context is characterized and socio-cultural determinants of the evolution of hospitality are identified, its historical forms are analyzed, the specifics of ancient Greek, Roman and medieval hospitality is defined. A role of hospitality as modern form of urban public communication is defined, the sense of cafes, bistros, art cafes, cabarets as the centers of European Bohemia and symbols of modernity comes out, where modernist art manifestos were proclaimed and their practical implementation was performed in a specific form. By an example of industrial and gastronomic tourism the features of functioning of hospitable practices as the phenomena of globality are characterized. The specific of fast food, street food and slow food as gastronomic practices comes out, their progress trends are defined in the «world of mobility».
