Essay

The thesis presents a holistic pedagogical research of scientific and educational heritage of Sypovskiy Vasil Dmitriievich (1844-1895), who was a prominent teacher, scientist and educator, editor and publisher, a scientist and an active public figure. The systematic and comprehensive study of historical and educational research provided the qualitative historiographical review of the problems, which were proved by that there were not generalized works devoted to V. D. Sypovskyi educational, scientific and educational heritage. Historiographical analysis of pedagogical personality of V. D. Sypovskoho was made in accordance to four chronological periods of his pedagogical, scientific and education heritage in Ukrainian science: the first stage (1868-1895 biennium.) - the lifetime historiography, the second phase (1895-1921) - the historiography of the pre-Soviet period, the third phase (1922-1990) - the Historiography of the Soviet period, the fourth stage (1991-2000) - The historiography of the independent Ukraine. For defined phases attempt was made to examine some aspects of scientific creativity; analyze some of its work; consider the work of educational institutions, which worked a teacher; explore some pedagogical periodicals, whose editor was working scientist. For a long time the name of V.D. Sypovskiy, like the many others educational leaders, was banned. Only in the years of the independence Ukraine there have appeared a number of works on certain aspects of the teacher. During the study of the identified number of sources and material of Ukrainian and foreign archives, enabling more complete and comprehensive study of the life path V. D. Sypovskoho, his creative activity, general attitudes, pedagogical and educational ideas, research and scientific work. The main periods of life scientists are defined and analyzed: 1) (1868-1871) - the beginning of educational and teaching; 2) (1871-1874) - educational and teaching activities in Kyiv Collegium Pavel Galagan; 3) (1874-1885) - the return to St. Petersburg and inspection activities Vasileostrovsky school; 4) (1885-1895) - the tenure as director of the St. Petersburg School of Deaf. The general pedagogical views of Vasil Sypovskiy, which consisted of the need for the reorganization of schools according to the needs of the society; training of highly qualified teachers; humanities treatment to students; cooperation between family and school; the compulsory education of women; the international experience use in the educational process; positive nurturing teaching staff for their pupils; implementation in educational institutions and nature based principles of nationality; use in the educational process theoretically developed and scientifically based methods. The author analyzed the educational and educational ideas in teaching legacy V. D. Sypovskiy, which cover the practice and scientific publications activity of the teacher: to educate intelligent and inquisitive personality; humanely treat to students (avoiding discord between teachers and students); to develop and cultivate the ability of students to self-improving; to improve student knowledge control system (replacing exams and written work rehearsals); to create favorable conditions for learning and for teachers (providing greater freedom in teaching, improving financial position, the possibility of career growth); to greater attention to studying the native language, history, literature, mathematics and science (publication of textbooks available for understanding); to make cooperation of family and school more close; to use in the practice of the national school the foreign educational experience; to implement the aesthetic and physical development of pupils; to develop methods of working with children with disabilities in physical development; to combine mental and moral development of students. In an analysis the author reveals the scientific views of scientist on the history of teaching in schools aimed at improving the process of assimilation by students of historical material, the use in learning collections of historical items, improving curricula, to avoid "dry" presentation of historical material in the textbooks used in school reading illustrated history works, encouraging students to independent reading historical novels and scientific papers, awakening interest in the study of living not only local history but universal history. The author also determined areas of society activity V. D. Sypovskoho, namely the public, aimed at active work on improving cultural and educational level of society (active part in the activities "Petersburg Committee of intelligence" [Peterburskoho Komyteta hramotnosty] in the educational committee at the Pedagogical Museum; publicist - covering research and development to changes in educational and training process (publication of articles on topical issues of training and education, the educational process); - editorial work in the journal "Women Education" [Zhenskoe Obrazovanye] (1876-1892) and "Education" [Osvita] (1892-1895 the bienning) - (editing department of criticism and Chronicle) Publishing - creating of the historical fiction for children (published numerous historical works: "The old Antiquities" [Rodnaya Starina] (1879). "Kulikova Battle" [Kulykovskaya Bytva] (1880), "St. Knyaz Vladimir and Rus' Christianity" [St. Ravnoapostolniy Knyaz Vladimir and kreschenye Rusi" (1888) "Aisiant Grees History" [Ystoryya Drevney Hretsyy] (1891), "Socrates and his Time" [Sokrat I ego vremia] (1894), "Saint history" [Svyaschennaya Istoryya] (b. d.), "The short stories from OldTestament" [Kratkye rasskazy iz istorii Vethogo Zaveta" (b. d.) and others.
