Essay

The peculiarities of the pupils' bilingual education in the United States secondary educational establishments have been examined in the dissertation. The interpretation of the term "bilingual education" has been revealed and its essential characteristics have been singled out. Socio-cultural conditions of the formation of bilingualism in American education have been identified. The periods of development of bilingual education in the United States under the Federal bilingual education policy have been determined. The conceptual-terminological apparatus of the research and the state of development of the problem of bilingual education in secondary educational institutions of the United States have been characterized. The organizational-pedagogical foundations of bilingual teaching in secondary education of the USA at macro, meso, micro levels have been determined. The specifics of bilingual education in Ukraine has been characterized, the recommendations as for the possibility of using progressive American experience under the conditions of modernization of secondary education in Ukraine at the macro, meso, micro levels have been grounded.
