Shushkevych Y. Narodnyi Ruch of Ukraine in the Rivne region in the 1989-1999.

The conclusions set out the overall results of the research and main provisions of the thesis submitted for defence.The establishment of Narodnyi Rukh Ukrainy (of Ukraine) (hereinafter - NRU, Rukh, Organization) was induced by several reasons, among which there were: the economic instability situation in the USSR, the environmental problems which were often suppressed by the government and also dissatisfaction with the growing policy of assimilation of the Ukrainians. A prerequisite for the emergence and proliferation of the Organization was the weakening of central government punishment bodies caused by the policy of "publicity" ("glasnist") declared by M. Gorbachov. In the Rivne region a movement ("rukh") emerged from many initiative groups, central of which was T.Shevchenko Ukrainian Language Society.
