Medvid I. Character and evolution of religious views of Ivan Franko: on the example of attitude towards Greek-Catholic Church

Object: religious views of Ivan Franko. Objective: clarification of the religious views of Ivan Franko and his relationship with the Greek Catholic clergy. Methods: analysis, synthesis, induction, problem-chronological, comparative-historical, prosopographic, content analysis. Results: for the first time comprehensively studied religious views of Ivan Franko on the example of his attitude toward the Greek Catholic Church (GCC), the relationship of Ivan Franko with GCC regarded at the doctrinal level (his attitude to Christianity in general) and at institutional level (his attitude toward the Church and clergy), and reveals their dynamics and evolution in a broader historical and comparative context. Scope of application: for further study of life way and views of Ivan Franko and also relationships of GCC with the socialist movement in Galicia in the second half of XIX – early XX century, in the educational process for professional disciplines (concluding of lecture course on history of Ukraine in XIX – early XX century, religion science, etc.).
