Hanna S. Determination of stresses and displacements in the buttress sheet-piling walls on the reconstruction of berths

The paper is dedicated to the ways of improving of construction and technical solutions of sheet-piling walls when repairing, constructing and modernizing port hydrotecnical facilities. Innovation construction and technological solutions of sheet-piling retaining wall with counterforces have been elaborated and analyzed. Specific features and advantages of their use have been found out. The results obtained due to the experimental researches of soil lateral pressure upon the model of steel bulkhead with counterforces showed that use of counterforces' in the retaining wall decreases soil lateral pressure, reduces shifting of the retaining wall's top and enforces the structure's rigidity. Methods of calculating of soil lateral pressure on bulkhead with consideration of relieving effect of stiffeners of various forms (rectangular, trapezium shaped with expansion downward, trapezium shaped with expansion upward) have been suggested.
