Essay

The thesis, on the broad basis of sources, investigates records management processes in the local self-government bodies of the city of Kyiv at the end of 19th - beginning of 20th century. Analyzed are the principles of records management at the Kyiv City Duma and Council in the period of 1870-1917 with its characteristic regularities defined by imperial regulations, internal and specialized documents. Identified are the main structural departments of the chancery of Kyiv City Council and Duma, its functions and stuff. Characterized are the documenting process of work with staff and requirements for the personnel files of employees. Concretized is the scheme of documents circulation for incoming, outgoing and internal documents, the principles and rules for archiving.
