Essay

The ideological and legal justifications of the Red Terror have been revealed. The specifics of Bolshevik terror in Ukraine in 1918 have been investigated basing on the involvement of a wide range of sources and literature. Attention was paid to the use of terror by the Bolsheviks to rob the population of Ukraine. The role of the Red Terror in the establishment and functioning of Soviet Government in Ukraine has been demonstrated. The repressive activity of the revolutionary tribunals and state of the prison system in Ukraine in 1919 has been examined.
