The thesis reveals the problem of future foreign languages teachers' professionalism at universities of Ukraine in the second half of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century by examining the content of education at leading pedagogical institutions and Kiev State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. The terminological apparatus of the chosen problem has been revealed. Professionalism is defined as a complex process, during which a person obtains professional pedagogical knowledge, skills, a desire to develop one's scope and creative skills, a necessity in pedagogical innovations and substandard professional actions. Future foreign language teachers' professionalism is defined as a mastering of 5 basic competencies: communicative, methodic, psychology-pedagogical, sociocultural and informational ones. The resource and law base of the study have been characterized. The stages and peculiarities of future foreign language teachers' professionalism development in Ukrainian higher educational institutions in the second half of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century have been determined the following way. Contents, forms and methods of future teachers' foreign languages training in higher educational institutions of Ukraine (the second half of XX - beginning of the XXI century) have been revealed to study the development of professionalism. The main tendencies of future language teachers' professionalism development in higher educational institutions of Ukraine have been presented. The improvement of basic content, educational-methodical equipment of future teachers of foreign languages and new philological subjects has been introduced among them. It has been determined that such forms of studying as magistrature and aspiranture that provided deep humanitarian, psychological-pedagogical, professional, scientific and practical components assured the development of future teachers' of foreign languages professionalism.
