Mitiahin O. Protection of Operational and Military Rear of the Red Army and Wehrmacht in Ukraine (1941-1944 рр.)

Strategic and operational, tactical specifics, content, essence and efficiency of functioning of operational and military forces rear of the Wehrmacht and the Red Army in the territory of Ukraine in 1941-1944 were investigated in the thesis, basing on the studying of a wide range of resources, analysis of the scientific literature, periodicals and other publications. A strategic goal and resulted from it tasks, the legal framework content, the number and size of involved military and special formations and direction of their efforts, forms, methods and tactics of actions, coinciding in some detail, were a fundamental difference in protection systems of the hostile parties in securing the rear. Their structural organization was determined by the military and political situation, operational situation in the theater of operations, size, level of tactical and special training and situation with the armament of the security forces. The essence of some terms and scientific notions of the military terminology was specified, and new military scientific terms were suggested. Archive documents and materials were implemented into the scientific sphere, historiographic aspects concerning the chosen theme, the periodization of organizational structures development, and functioning of the operational and military rear protection in war time got the further development. Basing on the results of the obtained results, practical recommendations on providing the rear security of the whole country as well as the security of operational and military rear under the conditions of possible war were developed. Moreover, amending the active legislation was suggested.
