Essay

The present thesis deals with a public life of Stanislaviv Diocese Greek Catholic Church in (1885-1946). In the process of transformation of the Catholic Church in the Austrian Empire restored Galician Metropolitan, having first projects of the new diocese (1790,1806,1842). In 1850 the project on creation Stanislaviv diocese gained the support of the Austrian Emperor and Rome, but the process was delayed to 1885. Hierarchs GCC considered its creation as a means of preserving identity Ukrainian (Ruthenians) based on the Greek Catholic rite.Stanislaviv diocese developed in conditions of gradual changes in the role of the GCC in the social life of Galicia. Its institutional development by the first bishops a Y.Pelesh and Kuyilovskoho was due to the formation of diocesan regulation of canonical territory. A. Sheptytsky explained the priority role of the GCC in matters of morality and the idea of "organic work" of the clergy. The struggle for a new bishop during the vacancy of the throne reflects the search for a new development model Stanislaviv diocese Khomyshyn focused on the training of clergy, establishing a network of church communities and the support of the conservative movement, grounded occidental program. Integration of the clergy of the diocese of Galicia in public life characterized the deployment of social, cultural and educational activities.During the National Revolution bishop and clergy support formation of WUPR government, on the principles of the Christian faith, unification of the UPR and the idea WUPR participated in the November revolution, the formation and activities of government WUPR Institute chaplains UGA. But the law on agrarian reform and the idea of "complete secularization" in school reform were critically received by bishop and clergy.
