In the thesis the scientific educational activity of D. I. Chyzhevskyi has been analyzed from the point of view of a modern methodology; the content of the notions "pedagogical personology" and "chyzhevskyi studies" has been revealed and enlarged. The main directions of the professional activity of D. I. Chyzhevskyi (scientific pedagogical, scientific research, organizational, the participation in a scientific circle, society, academy) have been revealed; the contribution of the scientist to the development of a historical pedagogical science, which consisted in the analysis of the pedagogical views of the famous Slavic thinkers of different epochs has been revealed.
