Thesis for a degree of candidate of geographical sciences in specialty 11.00.02 - economic and social geography. - Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University. - Odessa, 2017. The thesis is devoted to the development of scientific and methodological principles of socio-economic enhancement of the region on the basis of regionalism and spatial planning. From the point of view of social geography, the concept of "region" has been improved. Based on the approach to the region as a geospatial socio-economic system, appropriate principles for multi-level regionalization have been established. The systematic of the forms of territorial organization of the population and economy at the regional level has been developed. It is established that the multi-level taxonomy of the territorial organization is based on the allocation of taxonomic units: the region - the meso-region - the micro-region, which represent integral natural and economic complexes of various levels. The paper describes the place and socio-economic functions of the Ukrainian Black Sea Region in the national economy and the system of regions of modern Ukraine. The modern territorial organization of the of the Ukrainian Black Sea Region: settlement, demographic, economic, recreational, transport-logistical and nature protection components has been analyzed. It is established that the main factors of the multi-level regionalization of the region are: agglomeration forms of settlement, specialization and level of intensity of agriculture, irrigation, transport and distribution and industrial hubs, port and logistics centers, resort and recreational areas, eco-networks. The work presents a methodical scheme for multi-level regionalization. The criteria and attributes for the identification of taxonomic units of a multi-level organization in the region have been identified, on the basis of which the scheme of the territorial organization of the Ukrainian Black Sea Region has been justified. The mezo-regions, the micro-region and the districts have been singled out. Methodological principles of forecasting social and economic development of the Ukrainian Black Sea Region on the basis of regionalism are developed. The main directions for the future development of the territorial organization components of the Ukrainian Black Sea region are proposed.
