Essay

Generalization and systematization of Romanian-language sources disclosed major trends in and problems/study results of social geography in Ukraine and its regions. The analysis showed that Romanian-speaking scientists predominantly explored in the fields of economic statistics, economic geography, social geography, ethnic geography and anthropogeography. The author has also analyzed their contribution to development of general geographic ideas, economic-geographic and social-geographic studies, as well as to studies of Bukovina, Bessarabia and Romanian-language ethno-geographic heritage as a basis for the studies of population geography in the region. The work supplements the known theoretical and practical insights, as well as introduces such new elements as the analysis of life journey and scientific trajectory of a brilliant assemblage of Romanian-speaking scientists with consideration of their geographical heritage through the prism of social-geographic views of present-day social geographers in Ukraine.
