Tsyhanyuk M. Socio-political struggle in Ukraine during the elections and activities of the First State Duma.

The thesis complex social and political struggle in Ukraine during the elections and activities of the First State Duma have been studied. The evolution of the electoral law and to the State Duma based on a wide range of sources have been discovered. The work of provincial and district committees on organization and holding of elections in Ukraine have been described. The activity of the socialist party in the election struggle have been studied, the peculiarities of the election campaign of the Liberals have been defined. The position of the conservative-monarchist organizations in Ukraine in pershodumskyy period have been clarified. The historiographical analysis of the subject has been conducted in the Ph.D. work. It demonstrated that researchers have been showing a big interest for a long time to the issue of social and political struggle in Ukraine during the elections and the work of the First State Duma. The research of the problem passed three periods of development. In pre-revolutionary days there appeared works that mediately described the activities of the legislature and participation of representatives from provinces and cities in it. At that time, the works were published and they were representing statistics of regional and party representation in the Duma.
