Miroshnychenko D. Social mission of the University and the experience of French intellectuals

The thesis conceptualizes the direct relationships of the University and academic environment with a politically engaged class of the intellectuals. The position of a tutor, a scientist, or an artist as actively involved in the socio-political realm figure is problematized. One of the most popular questions for philosophical discussions of the XX century is considered in the first section - the question of the mission and the idea of the university. It is indicated on the major trends in the study of the issue among both the world's intellectuals, who turned to this subject, and among Ukrainian philosophers. Special attention is devoted in the second section to the question about the relevance of the usage of the terms "intelligentsia" and "intellectuals" in the domestic humanitarian discourse.
