Essay

The thesis is devoted to the conceptualization of slavery as a social and historical phenomenon in the context of the definition of its features in modern societies. Considered scientific approaches to understanding of slavery and slavery demarcated his forms such as classical, nonclassical, and post-nonclassical. Emphasized that classical and nonclassical forms have economic basis, and post nonclassical- is the result of scientific and technological changes in the field of post-industrial production. It was found that in the ancient society of slavery was quite a natural phenomenon, because almost all economic relations, including the distribution of private property, growth of trade relations and create favorable conditions for political activity and cultural life of the general public in Greek society carried out on basis of slavery. In the course of the research it was found that along with another form of slavery institutionalization of slavery for the purpose of economic exploitation in the history of societies faced was serfdom - the system of agrarian relations in which, the producer (farmer), being the property of the landowner had a partial right the possession of land management requirement of payment of dues. In contrast to slavery, serfdom institution in its advanced forms showed the beginning of the process of formation of the peasantry as a class, mediated by the possibility of their independent economy, indicating the beginning of a process of economic, then social and political liberation from the state of absolute dependence on the feudal lord.
