Essay

In the thesis the theoretical bases of the research of problem of the content development of “Physical Culture” as a subject of study (1959–1991) has been substantiated; the essence of the key concepts of the research such as: “school”, “content of education”, “subject”, “physical culture”, “physical education”, “subject “Physical Culture” at school” have been determined; it has been pointed out that in the period under review the subject “Physical Culture” at school” was marked as the key concept “subject”, the main content of which was to study physical exercises, motor activities, mobile and sports games, which promote strengthening of health, physical development and improvement of motor abilities of students to prepare them for life, work and professional activity, to protect the Motherland; but nowadays, in modern pedagogy, physical culture is considered as a subject at general schools, aimed to develop in students the foundations of general physical culture that means to extend their knowledge which are closely connected with a wider range of vital motor skills.
