Essay

Object of study: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the acute phase; the goal - increasing the effectiveness of treatment of patients with COPD in the acute phase by including enterosorbents into the complex therapy on the basis of studying the effect of this treatment on the dynamics of clinical and laboratory features of endogenous intoxication (EI); methods of investigation: clinical, biochemical, immunological, immunoenzymatic, radiological, instrumental, statistical; novelty: received new data on the effect of EI in patients with COPD in the exacerbation phase on nonspecific protection of the organism, the cytokine system, lipid peroxidation and antioxidant defense, taking into account the severity of the disease; supplemented scientific evidence that the progression of COPD is accompanied by an increase in the level of middle-mass molecules, erythrocytic intoxication index, malondialdehyde, circulating immune complexes, immunoglobulin E, tumor necrosis factor-alfa, interleukins 1beta and 10, and decrease in the activity of superoxide dismutase and lysozyme; installed correlation between cough, shortness of breath, FEV1 in COPD and level of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in serum depending on the severity of the disease; proven the effectiveness of the use of enterosorbatory therapy with the use of carbon (carboline) and organosilicon (enterosgel) enterosorbent in the complex treatment of COPD in the phase of exacerbation, which makes it possible to ease the clinical course and reduce the level of EI. Scope - medicine.
