Nepomyaschykh V. Belgorod Kyiv (X - first half of the XIII centuries).

The dissertation is devoted to the creation of complex historical and archaeological research of Bilhorod Kyivsky. Before the formation of Bilhorod, in VII-IXth centuries this area was inhabited by the Slavic tribes. However, the city is not the result of their continued existence and development. In the last quarter of the Xth century, Bilhorod appears and functions as a small fortress town. This period ends after expansion of the citadel and posad and creation of new powerful defensive rollers with adobe masonry in their internal structure. On the southern side of posad located burial ground. In Bilhorod develops episcopate, built churches and temples. The territory developing dynamically: growing of settlement, occur crafts and trades, developing internal and external trade. In the early XIIfth century the role of the city increases. Bilhorod figures in constant internecine wars. In the mid-XIIth century it became an autonomous centre, to it appointed knyaz, the city functions as a "key" of Kyiv. This period is the climax of the chronicle city's development. The number of its population exceeds 12,000 people. It has its neighbouring areas. Old Rus period ended with the invasion of Batu Khan. However, life in Belgorod restores, but only in the citadel and the western part of the "roundabout city".
