Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the study of peculiarities of translation of advertising slogans from the English language into Ukrainian and Russian. The definition of the advertising slogan as the variation of a microtext is proposed and the typology of advertising slogans is developed. Linguistic and stylistic peculiarities and the tendencies in their reproduction on the lexical and grammatical levels are traced. Appropriateness of consideration of the polycode character of advertising slogans in the translation is proved and the dominant strategy of translation oriented on the target language is defined. The associative experiment was conducted the stimuli being the advertising slogans, and the necessity of the usage of the results of the experimental research for the prognosis of adequacy of the translation of advertising microtexts was justified.
