Essay

The main purpose of this study is the comprehensive investigation of the princpal factors of geographical localization and economic functioning effectiveness of certain types of SEZs as well as defining its role in the development of the Chinese domestic economy and underlining the prospective of implementing Chinese concept in Ukraine. The expediency of human-geographical approach to the study of Special economic zones has been characterized. The features of the concept of a Special economic zone from the standpoint of human geography have been revealed. Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Development Zones as the innovative forms of the Chinese international cooperation with foreign countries are determined within the subject of human geography are regarded. The basic concepts and the theoretical aspects of Chinese Special Economic Zones and Development Zones are characterized. Fully correspondence of Special Economic Zones to the features of the object of human-geographical research has been defined: SEZs influence the development of the territory and cause changes in the landscape envelope, because they are inherently related to the intensification of economic activity. Geospatial analysis of the diffusion of Special Economic Zones inside The Peoples Republic of China and their high concentration in definite regions and countries has been conducted. The most effective types of Special Economic Zones are identified, which include High-Tech Development Zones and Economic and Technological Development Zones. The diversified effects of certain types of SEZs including High-Tech Development Zones and Economic and Technological Development Zones on the local economy of the Chinese provinces and autonomous regions have been investigated. The important role of Cross-Border Economic Cooperative Zones in the development of the Chinese inland regions and the expansion of cross-border cooperation with the neighboring countries is revealed.
