The object of the research is the process of professional training of future philologists; the subject of the research are pedagogical conditions of future philologists' adaptation to professional activity at classical universities; the objective of the research is to identify and experimentally verify the influence of pedagogical conditions on the level of future philologists' adaptation to their professional activity while studying at classic universities; methods of theoretical level: analysis, synthesis and systematization of scientific literature on the problem of research; logical-systematic, problem-objective, comparative analysis; empirical methods: questionnaires, testing, simple and complex observation, individual and group interviews, study of students' practical activity, psychological-pedagogical testing; pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics (statistical processing of the results of experimental work and their interpretation); scientific novelty is that the concept "adaptation of future philologists to professional activity while studying at classical universities" was first determined; pedagogical conditions of future philologists' adaptation to professional activity at classical universities (improvement of the system of future philologists' dominant motives concerning their professional activity; formation of communicative competence of future philologists; use of interactive technologies for acquiring professional experience by future philologists) were scientifically proved and tested by the experiment; the criteria and indicators (motivational personal criterion, whose indicators are: positive motivation for professional activity, students' awareness of the importance of professional orientation of education, personality manifestation: creative potential, value orientation; content criterion, whose indicators are: formation of basic, leading components of professional philological activity: communicative competence, language competence; reflexive criterion, whose indicators are: formation of reflexive abilities - the adequacy of self-esteem and self-control) were determined and the levels of formation of future philologists' adaptability to the professional activity at classical universities were described.
