Essay

In the thesis the Greek Catholic eparchy of Przemyshl in the Ukrainian national movement in Galicia (1919-1939) was studied. Given the specificity of Church-state relations, in the development of the Greek Catholic eparchy of Przemyshl have been allocated several periods of its existence, during which the eparchy was developed as an integral administrative-canonical unit of the Church. The reconstructions of the organizational structure of the Greek Catholic eparchy of Przemyshl have been considered. It was determined that the development of the organizational structure has occurred at two levels - the administrative-territorial and hierarchical. Special attention is given to the important issue of the interwar period - the formation of the Apostolic administration of the Lemkivshchyna. It was provided that in the 1910-1930's social and political life of the Lemkivshchyna was affected by the confrontation between the moscowphiles and ukrainophile forces. Interfaith situation was increased, large scale spread of acquired Orthodoxy. The spread of Orthodoxy has gained a large scale. It was determined that the material situation of the Greek Catholic clergy has changed significantly after the occupation of Galicia by Poland in 1919. By the mid-1920s, the clergy didn't receive from the Polish authorities' financial assistance. The new government, taking into account the fact that the Greek-Catholic Church protects the national identity and interests of Ukrainians, tried all means to reduce its influence.
