The dissertation is dedicated to the reconstruction of children and youth everyday life in the Ukrainian SSR 60's-80's ХХ century. The source base of the thesis contains a set of documents and materials, being completely new to scientific discourse. The verbal and visual history sources collected by the author among the respondents whose youthship having passed within investigated period, are of special relevance and represent a good deal of information. The state measures in support of children including their socio-cultural, material and spiritual needs are analyzed. This policy helped to involve children in social life and to protect their rights. The data of published sources and legislation framework, devoted to this problem is analyzed. Laws and regulations, which were published, showed the official position of the authorities as for childhood, and also took up the evolution of Communist party executives' opinion to the problem of pupils protection, including the school system in the second half of 1960's - the first half of 1980's. The mechanisms of socialization of children and juveniles of the Ukrainian SSR are revealed. During the "Brezhnev stagnation" period, it was common thing to raise children in the spirit of the Soviet system requirements, primarily on the principles of Communist ideology. The main priorities were aimed to the patriotic education, devotion to the Party and the Motherland, as well as military patriotic, ideological, labor, physical and aesthetic education. They defined the process of "the future builder of communism" socialization. The system of youth the outlook forming and the state infrastructure for providing of the ideology education for children and youth is described; disclosed atheistic education as a specific component of the ideological education of the younger generation. The basic forms of leisure and rest, which represents an organized system of cultural and educational needs of youth, are characterized. Detected is content of subculture and features conducting of free time of children's. Reveals the history of the creation of camps for children in Ukraine and their impact on the education of the younger generation. Clarified that the camps in Soviet Ukraine were organized for improvement and rest of children, but one of their main tasks was the implementation of ideological influence on the younger generation and the formation of the Communist ideology. It was found that in the analyzed period, began an active process of activity camps for children. Shows the main types of children's camps, which had the opportunity to go to summer-school students, reveals the main content and features of the camps, the value of summer schools and their activities. The perspective directions of further studying and comprehensive generalization of childhood issues are clearly defined; recommendations for further improvement of the forms and methods of the state system regarding the formation of the structure and content of school life are indicated.
