The dissertation is focused on the comprehensive research of theoretical and practical problems of the characteristics of the legal status of the court chairman. The author of the paper has accomplished the characteristics of the stages of formation and development of the judicial system in Ukraine in terms of the reform. The concept of the legal status of the court chairman has been defined. The structure of the legal status of the court chairman has been revealed and analyzed. The guarantees of ensuring the implementation of the legal status of the court chairman have been outlined and characterized. The peculiarities of acquiring and terminating the legal status of the court chairman have been clarified. The powers of the court chairman have been determined. The features of legal liability of the court chairman have been revealed. The peculiarities of the legal status of the appellate court chairman, the high specialized court chairman, the chairman of the Supreme Court and the chairman of the cassation court have been established. International experience legal regulation of the status of the court chairman has been generalized and the possibilities of its implementation in Ukraine have been suggested. The ways of improving the guarantees of implementing the legal status of the court chairman have been singled out.
