Shevchuk B. Volyn Treasury Chamber in the late 18th - 60s of the 19th century: structure, powers and social consequences of the activities.

The thesis describes Volyn Treasury Chamber as one of the state mechanism elements. The research traces the legal aspects of the institution structure formation and analyzes its main powers. Guided by Russian Legislation, the Treasury Chamber carried out a wide range of administrative, financial and fiscal functions, which made it a key institution in the province on the issue of ensuring the economic interests of the empire. The personnel structure is investigated, methods and criteria of staffing are found out. It has been established that according to Table of Ranks in force, the access to civil service was determined by the origin of the person but employee's educational background almost was not taken into consideration. Noblemen and people who came from the families of the military (a significant percentage of whom were Poles) predominantly served in Volyn Treasury Chamber. These population categories formed the social support of autocracy.
