Essay

The object is letters by M.O. Maksymovych dated 1823-1873; the aim is to determine characteristic structural, typological and stylistic features of letters by M.O. Maksymovych and the means of representing the author's language personality in his epistolary heritage; methods that are used: complete selection, descriptive, typological, comparative, structural-semantic analysis and discourse analysis; novelty - with the complex approach the epistolary heritage by M.O. Maksymovych has been first investigated from the points of view of text linguistics, communicative linguistics and lingvopersonology; the complex typology of epistolary texts by M.O. Maksymovych which is correlated with speech genres is developed; a snippet of information representing the scientist's language personality was reconstructed on the basis of his epistolary heritage analysis; results - basic principles and conclusions of the dissertation facilitate the further development of language and speech genres theory, some aspects of text linguistics, lingvopersonology; extend knowledge about epistolary discourse as a multidimensional linguistic object as well as it is a contribution to the development of general theory of discourse; factual material and study materials can be used while preparing for lecture courses and seminar classes in theory of language and speech genres, text linguistics, lingvopersonology, at practicals in stylistics and text interpretation and at classes in linguistic text analysis. Knowledge of means and devices of epistolary discourse organization, their practical acquirement conduce to both adequate interpretation of the epistolary text content and its construction which is reasonably organized from the perspective of communicative tasks. Dissertation material may be applied in further studying of the scientist and encyclopaedist's language and comprehensive description of M.O. Maksymovych's individual style; field - linguistics.
