Bulhakova O. . Scientific-pedagogical intelligentsia of the Ukrainian SSR (the middle of 1950s - first half of 1960s): formation, position and activities

The thesis is devoted to the study of the formation, position and activities of the scientific-pedagogical intelligentsia of the Ukrainian SSR in the second half of the 1950s - the mid-1960s. The thesis examines the process of formation of the faculty of higher education, which was carried out with the help of the postgraduate study institute and direct co-optation in production. Investigating the circumstances of conducting competitions for filling vacancies in universities has shown that their effectiveness was low. During the studied period, qualifying characteristics of the scientific and pedagogical intelligentsia improved, however, the replenishment of teachers' ranks was still carried out at the expense of personnel without scientific degrees and academic titles. The thesis analyzes the activity of the scientific-pedagogical intelligentsia and highlights its social, propaganda and educational-educational function. The increase of knowledge, the publication of scientific works, transfer of cultural potential to the descendants were the content of the public function.
