Objective essence of diseases and illnesses has been disclosed in the work, as well as research apparatus was formed; the subject-matter and the essence of spatial ana¬lysis as a basic methodical approach to help study social-geographic aspects of health pro¬tection were revealed. The view on social-geographic particularities of population di¬s¬e¬ases has been presented, as well as on retrospective description of the same. Disease and illness spat¬i¬al/component specificities were brought to light. Social-geographic anal¬y¬s¬is of present-day prevailing types of diseases and illnesses is conducted. The oblast’s health care was analyzed and the complex of measures to improve its functioning within the context of state and regional interests has been developed.
The topicality of the present dissertation paper is preconditioned by the fact that present-day social-economic research aims at the study of human’s health which is a complex global-scale phenomenon considered in categories of phi¬lo¬so¬phy, social relations, economics, biology and medicine. Health is understood as human body’s natural state conditioned by human being’s response to existing natural, econom¬ic and social situations, employment and other factors. Hence, the importance of studies into people’s state of health, structure of their diseases and illnesses, health institutions syst¬em, available professional medical potential and urgent problems existing in this essential component of social development is rather obvious. The issues denoted hereinbefore thus form the rationale of this study.
Information concerning spatial extension of human diseases and illnesses is a primary goal with respect to health care organization, perspective planning of health care institutions, and preparation of highly qualified staff. The analysis of these questions is an objective characteristic of nation’s health. Scientifically substantiated recommendations for better organization of health care will require availability of verified social-geographic research into disease, the illness expansion spatial disclosure, and its correlation with social conditions within the territory.
Major disease causes in the Chernivtsi Oblast are as follows: social conflicts and young people’s uncertainty in the social environment; absence of comfortable living and sufficient sanitary-hygienic conditions that would prevent people and their pro¬per¬ty from incidents and extreme situations of natural or social origin; social injustice, inequity, preconception of social institutions towards individual; insufficiency of accessible education, special knowledge and information concerning health and teaching healthy living methods and skills, upbringing in the spirit of absolute priority of individual and public health; irrational feeding, unavailability of high-qua¬lity potable water, vitamins, microelements, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, products of high biological value, special products and food additives that would improve health and resist natural process of ageing; lack of finances to sufficiently have the neces¬si¬t¬i¬es of life and satisfy cultural demands, produce and consume services and commodities needful to live a healthy life. Among efficient approaches to help improve the health of a nation we would emphasize upon the state control and introduction of programs aimed at development of health care.
