In this thesis, we present complex research of organizational and pedagogical bases of physical training of primary school students from 1947 to 1991. The historiography of the problem is outlined and the essence of the basic concepts "physical training", "physical training of primary school students ", "organizational and pedagogical bases of physical training of primary school students " is determined. The periodisation in the history of the complex structured system of physical training of primary school students in Ukraine in 1947-1991 was substantiated. The external and internal reasons and main tendencies of the content reforming and organization of physical training of primary school students are determined. The possibilities of reactualization of productive experience in present were found out. The object of the research is the development of physical training of primary school students in the school education theory and practice in Ukraine. The subject of research is the content and organization of physical training of primary school students in Ukrainian elementary schools in 1947-1991. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the principles of the genesis of physical training of primary school students on the basis of a retrospective analysis in the period 1947-1991 and to find out the possibilities of using historical and pedagogical experience in the educational process of a modern elementary school. Scientific novelty and theoretical value of research is that for the first time in the national historical and pedagogical science, scientific and pedagogical problem of development of the theory and practice of physical training of primary schoolchildren in a historical retrospective are investigated in a complex as the social pedagogical phenomenon and open dynamic system; a periodisation in the history of development of system of physical training of students of elementary school in Ukraine in 1947-1991 is substantiated: I period (1947-1959) - system recovery of physical training of students of elementary school; II period (1959-1971) - a sportization of school education; III period (1971-1984) - theoretically-reforming (in terms of content and evaluation of the results of physical training) IV period (1984-1991) - formation of pedagogical system of physical training of primary school students ; the reasons (external socio-political conditions, internal educational-normative and organizational-methodical factors, constant attention of the state to providing the proper level of physical training of students), the main tendencies of the reform of the content and the organization of physical training of primary school students in the specified chronological limits (constructive changes in the development of elementary education, pedagogical science and practice of physical training, the growth of requirements for primary school teachers, the continuous improvement of forms and methods physically training students, the wavy shift of accents on tasks and functions); The essence of the concept "organizational and pedagogical bases of physical training of primary school students " is clarified; the choice of the priority forms and means of physical training of primary school students in 1947-1991 is characterized; outlined possibilities of reactualization of productive ideas of historical and pedagogical experience of organization of physical training of pupils of primary school age. The potential of the process of physical training of primary school students has been specified towards the formation of a coherent personality; the contribution of Ukrainian scholars, state figures and practising teachers to the development of the theory and practice of education and upbringing are defined. The practical significance is the development of methodological recommendations for the organization of physical training of pupils of grades 1-4 containing theoretical background and practical exercises. Recommendations can be used in the educational process of the primary school, the system of preparation and advanced training of primary and secondary school teachers, as well as for their self-education.
