Essay

The continuing professional training of social workers in Canada is the object of the study. The content, forms and methods of continuing training of social workers for supervisory activities in Canada are the subject of research. The aim of the study is to identify the peculiarities of continuing professional training of social workers for supervisory activities in Canada and to justify the possibility of creative implementation of Canada’s innovative ideas and experience in Ukraine. Methods of research: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, content analysis, confronting, comparison, logical method, modeling, systematization, generalization, questioning, direct and indirect observation, testing. The features of continuing professional training of social workers for supervisory activity in Canada are firstly revealed; its theoretical basis is substantiated; its model is developed and substantiated; the comparative pedagogical analysis is conducted, and common and different features of continuing professional training of social workers for supervisory activity in the area of social work in the experience of Canada and Ukraine are differentiated; the possibilities of using Canada’s progressive ideas and experience in Ukraine are outlined. The content of the concepts “continuoing professional training for supervisory activity in the field of social work”, “supervision”, “supervisor”, “supervised”, “profile of professional competence of social worker-supervisor” is specified. The results of the study are implemented in the educational process. The institutions of higher education are the sphere of application of author’s proposals.
