Essay

The present thesis deals with the problem of artistic image reproduction in sonnets translated from Spanish into Ukrainian language. The correlation between the concept of "artistic image" in poetic translation and "image-semantic structure" was defined. Understanding of image-semantic structure as invariant in translation, its difference from ideological-imaginative structure was established as well. The characteristic aspects of the artistic image rendering in the genre of the sonnet were investigated. The roles of basic translation transformations were analyzed and three basic patterns of their interaction in translated sonnets were identified. The regularities of rendering of image-semantic structure in translated sonnets were investigated.
