Melnychuk Y. Discourse of religious problem in the newspaper „Bukovyna” late XIX – early XX century.

The dissertation explores the discourse of religious problem areas in the newspaper „Bukovyna” (1885 – 1910). According to the determined theoretical and methodological basis of the research, attention is focused on the main achievements of Ukrainian professionals in the field of religious journalism. On this basis, it concludes on the lack of thorough investigation of both the newspaper „Bukovyna” (1885 – 1910) and the religious problem areas. The paper describes the concept of „discourse”, which enables the formation of a holistic picture of religious problematic issues in the newspaper „Bukovyna” and to define its ideological and conceptual foundations. At the same time, the discourse of religious problem areas was one of the determinative in the publication. On the basis of the conducted analysis, it becomes possible to distinguish corresponding thematic groups in the context of religious problem areas, namely: 1) the romanization of the church; 2) religion side by side to state and politics; 3) „Ukrainian question” in the church; 4) Moscow-oriented factor in the activity of the Orthodox Church; 5) the discussion aspects of religious problem areas in various types of media; 6) the activity of the Catholic Church; 7) religious processes in the Russian Empire; 8) Protestantism; 9) Judaism. The theme of the romanization of the Church is fully exposed in the newspaper „Bukovyna” and takes a leading part throughout the whole period of periodical’s activity.
