Rudenko Y. Functioning of postal and telegraph institutions in the Right-bank Ukraine (the second half of XIX – beginning of XX century)

Taking into consideration the crucial role of the postal communications in the development of economy and integration processes, the given piece of work has become as relevant as ever. The paper features a deep and objective analysis of history of emerging, development and functioning of postal institutions in the Right-bank Ukraine. The author has processed and introduced a number of archive sources, which have never been used by researchers before. Archives comprise the major source base of the research. For the first time, labor of women in the postal field has gotten due attention, structural arrangement of the postal institutions security and requirements for the escort guards are analyzed, the author characterized the process of establishing and provision of telephone connection. Terms and procedures of payment for the communication services, peculiarities of equipment installation in public and private places, requirements for the new position of a telephone operator and communication facilities, and procedures of telephone operations are determined and brought to light by the author.
