Essay

In this study, psychological peculiarities of life orientations in the medical personnel of the ophthalmological profile are studied. The theoretical model of determination and realization of life orientations of a professional is constructed in which the life orientations are in system relations with subsystems of socio-demographic and organizational factors, positive personality traits, stress reactions, work satisfaction and a subsystem of work-life balance. The hierarchical structure of life orientations of medical personnel as system factors of professional activity was studied and it was shown that representatives of junior and middle medical personnel are focused on the spectrum of the most important values of the life of society, revealing their own general collective orientations. Doctors are focused on individualistic and narrow-collectivist values, which indicate a desire for ethical professional self-realization in a stable circle of competent colleagues. A wide range of professional and ethical orientations of doctors is connected with orientations on self-realization and search of answers to existential questions. It was determined that the greatest stress among the physicians of all levels is the following stressful events such as: high responsibility for life of patients, cases of progressive disorders with unfavorable prognosis for the patient and lack of adequate funding for adequate treatment. The construct of positive functioning is operationalized and it is proved that in junior and middle-level personnel it contributes to the honest and conscientious performance of professional activity, altruism and the recognition of the equal rights and freedoms of all members of society. The positive functioning of doctors contributes to the formation of orientations for observance of the rules of etiquette, the discovery of the attentiveness and courtesy of the surrounding people and humanistic orientation. It is proved that professional-ethical orientation and orientation towards spiritual development are the coping resources of physicians. It is shown that constructs of declarative and unconscious job satisfaction in a medical organization are orthogonal dimensions. Keywords: life orientations, psychological determinants, professional activity, job satisfaction, medics, ophthalmologists.
