Essay

Object: book collections of Orthodox and monastic monasteries of Lviv diocese of early modern times. Aim: to investigate the peculiarities of the functioning of the bookshops in the socio-cultural space of the monastic communities of the Lviv diocese of the XVII-XVIII centuries. Methods: church history, social history, reading history, historical hermeneutics, history of literature, special historical disciplines (palaeography, bibliography), cultural history, Ukrainian religious culture of pre-modern times, ecclesiastical approach. The paper uses the methodological approaches of the "French school" in the history of the book. Results: for the first time the history of the monastic book collections of the Lviv Diocese of early modern times in the categories of the socio-cultural history of the book was examined; the composition of the liturgical books in the uniate abode in the context of the confessionalization processes of the eighteenth century was analyzed; "reader canons" of Orthodox and uniate monasteries were outlined; New sources of materials, in particular inventory descriptions, old printed and manuscripts, are involved in scientific circulation; improved practice of studying the repertoire of books of Basilian monasteries; method of studying the reader's practices of monks of the studied regions. Scope of use: during the study of the history of Ukrainian culture of early modern times, for writing generalized works on the history of the Church in Ukraine, and the conclusion of educational normative and specialized courses.
